Privacy Policy

SMS Mobilo (“we”, “us”) operates the SMS Platform available
at this domain. This Privacy Policy explains what data we collect from you, why we collect it,
and how we protect it.
1. What We Collect
When you register and use the Platform, we collect:
- Account data: your name, email address, and password (stored as a hashed value — we never store your plain text password).
- Payment data: your MoMo number, transaction references, and amounts paid. We do not store full card numbers or mobile money PINs.
- Message data: the recipient phone numbers, sender IDs, message content, and delivery statuses for messages you send through the Platform.
- Usage data: basic server logs including IP addresses, timestamps, and pages visited, retained for security and debugging purposes.
- API keys: generated tokens that authenticate your API requests. These are stored in hashed form after initial display.
2. Why We Use It
- To operate your account and process credit purchases.
- To send the SMS messages you request through the Platform.
- To show you delivery reports and message history in your dashboard.
- To send you account-related emails (e.g. email verification, password reset, payment receipts).
- To detect and prevent abuse, fraud, or misuse of the Platform.
We do not use your data for advertising or sell it to third parties.
3. Who We Share Data With
Your data is shared only where necessary to operate the Platform:
- MTN Uganda: our SMS delivery partner. When you send a message, the recipient number, sender ID, and message text are transmitted to MTN Uganda to complete delivery. Their privacy policy applies to data processed on their infrastructure.
- Payment processor: your MoMo number and payment amount are shared with our payment gateway (Shashura) to initiate the mobile money collection. They do not receive your account password or message history.
- Hosting infrastructure: the Platform is hosted on servers that store your data in encrypted form.
- Legal requirement: we may disclose data if required by a valid court order, government authority, or applicable Ugandan law.
4. Message Content and Recipients
The phone numbers and message content you send through the Platform are stored in your account
for reporting and campaign management purposes. This data is visible only to you (and admins
for platform integrity purposes). Message content is retained for 12 months, after which it
may be archived or deleted.
You are responsible for having appropriate consent from recipients before sending them
marketing or promotional messages, in line with UCC regulations.
5. Data Security
We use industry-standard measures to protect your data: HTTPS for all connections, hashed
passwords, and access controls that limit which staff can view account data. No system is
completely immune to attack, but we take reasonable steps to minimise risk.
If you believe your account has been compromised, change your password immediately and
contact us.
6. Your Rights
You can, at any time:
- Update your account information from the Profile page.
- Request a copy of the personal data we hold about you.
- Request deletion of your account and associated data — we will process this within 30 days, except where data must be retained for legal or financial record-keeping reasons.

7. Cookies
The Platform uses a single session cookie to keep you logged in. We do not use tracking cookies,
analytics cookies, or third-party advertising cookies.
8. Changes to This Policy
We may update this policy when we make significant changes to how we handle data. We will
notify active users by email or platform notification, and the updated date at the top of this
page will change. Continued use of the Platform after an update means you accept the revised policy.
